Brighter Futures Outer East connects local young people who have experienced out-of-home care with community members who want to help them achieve their goals in life.
By creating new opportunities outside the funded service system, it changes community attitudes and replaces low expectations with new possibilities.
The members of the Brighter Futures Outer East partnership asked Social Change Projects to develop a communications strategy, brand assets, suite of publications, and advocacy plan to expand its profile and support in the local community and with key stakeholders.
The implementation of this work continues, but early indications show greater support and engagement have given a major boost to the future of this pilot project that is helping transform the futures of young people who have lived in foster, residential and kinship care in Melbourne’s outer east.
Brighter Futures Outer East partners included Anchor, Anglicare Victoria, Box Hill Institute, EACH, Eastern Community Legal Centre, EDVOS, Eastern Health, headspace, Knox City Council, Maroondah City Council, Mathworks, Salvocare Eastern, Swinburne University, Together for Equality and Respect, Uniting, Urban Life, VACCA, Victoria Police, Women’s Health East, Yarra Ranges Shire Council and YSAS.
